This tent is so easy to build and modify for different sized spaces! It's a great spot for reading or imaginary play, and it can even be taken apart easily and stowed away if necessary. All you need is a few boards, a couple bolts and screws, basic tools, and the fabric of your choice.

Materials (for a 52"tall x 68" wide x 35" deep tent):

-1x4x6' (5)

-1"x3' dowel rod

-4 yards of fabric (32" wide)

-2" bolt w/nut (2)

-1" or 1 1/2" wood screws

-sand paper

-paint or stain

Tools:

-tape measure

-pencil

-miter saw

-drill

-wrench in the size of the bolt used

-sander

-sewing machine or fabric stapler

-safety equipment

The long boards are left at 6' and simply cut at 30 degree angles. The two ends are cut parallel to each other. The short boards are cut at 35" each. The long boards are fastened with a bolt through the center, loosened to fold and tightened to make secure for standing. The short boards are attached 5" from the base with wood screws (these can be removed if taking the tent apart). The dowel rod is cut to length and either set on top or screwed into the long boards. Make sure you sand well and paint or stain before assembling.

The fabric can be attached by wrapping around the short boards and stapling on the inside of the tent, or you can sew 4" pockets to insert the short boards into before attaching them to the long boards. I would recommend sewing and hemming your fabric for it to last longer and look more finished.

You can be as creative as you want by choosing a fun fabric or by changing the lengths and angles of the long boards.

This is a super fun quick project that will provide endless fun for active imaginations. The project is so easy, it'd be a great one to have the kids help build!
