Build a super simple closet tower and maximize your storage space. Center the shelves in a small closet and add rods to either side, or build more than one and mix them with the larger closet tower for a walk-in closet space. It's such a versatile piece!

The wood cost runs from 70.00-115.00 depending on whether you use plywood or MDF for the carcass and common board or furring strips for the 1x2s and 1x4. Plywood and common board (pine) cost a little more, but the shelves will be stronger, last longer, and the boards you use will be straighter. Use whatever works best for you.
Materials:
- (3) 1x2x8
- (1) 1x4x8
- (2) 3/4" Plywood 4'x8' Sheets
- 1" Pocket Hole Screws
- 1" Brad Nails
- 2 1/2" Wood Screws (to attach your shelf to the wall)
- Sand Paper
- Paint or Stain
Tools:
- Tape Measure
- Pencil
- Square
- Circular Saw
- Miter Saw or Table Saw
- Drill
- Sander
- Brad Nailer
- Safety Equipment (glasses, ear protection, dust mask/respirator, gloves)
First, build the basic carcass. You can do this with 3/4" pocket holes and 1" pocket hole screws. Attach the 1x2 cleat to the back side using 3/4" pocket holes and 1" pocket hole screws. Use wood glue at all the joints for a strong bond. Alternatively, you can use 1x2s attached to the plywood sides to set the shelves on instead of using pocket holes for the self (if you go this route, you will have to purchase more 1x2s).

Add the trim to the front and the sides. You can use 3/4" pocket hole screws and 1" pocket holes to create the frame, then attach it to the shelf with 1" brad nails and wood glue. The base trim and side trim are attached with wood glue and 1" brad nails.

Paint or stain it to your liking and fasten it to the wall studs when you install. That's it! Super simple build!
